A: The low-frequency sound insulation advantage of vacuum glass comes from its structural design—not simply from glass thickness. By maintaining a vacuum layer at a pressure of ≤0.1 Pa between two glass panes, vacuum glass removes the air that acts as an “air spring” in conventional insulating glass units (IGUs).
With virtually no air medium between the panes, sound transmission and resonance within the cavity are significantly reduced, helping vacuum glass deliver more stable sound insulation performance, particularly in the low-frequency range.
According to authoritative acoustic test reports, within the 200–500 Hz frequency range, where traffic noise is concentrated, the sound reduction index of vacuum glass increases steadily from 30.2 dB to 37.7 dB. The sound insulation curve remains relatively stable, without the pronounced low-frequency dip commonly observed in conventional insulating glass.
